The pain is is numbed from the concoction I got from Lorthio but I am tired. So very tired. But I must make sure I record what is happening here.
We were originally planning on returning to Lorthio’s camp when suddenly, we found a door that lead into a certain cavern. I was sent in to scout out the room before we entered in. I couldn’t place my finger on it, but I felt drawn to whatever was in there. As I proceeded forward, I was nearly caught in a pitfall but luckily caught myself before I could fall in. More cautious now, I proceeded onward. When I approached a wall of fungi, I realized that these were shrieker mushrooms, based upon my previous experiences as a thief. These mushrooms, I knew, would start literally shrieking if I got within 30 feet of them. I carefully walked past, keeping in mind the distance I needed to keep to move forward. I moved into the wide cavern and saw a two-headed dog caged with a derro standing guard over it. Over to the right of it, there was a group of derro standing in a circle, surrounding a statue that suddenly grew an additional head. Before I could even decide to head back, I heard a very familiar voice whisper to me in a mocking sort of tone, “Be careful Elidure…don’t get your foot caught.”
I froze. There was no way he could be alive. It was impossible. Now a nervous wreck, I cautiously made my way back and told the group of what was in there. When they asked why I was shaken, I didn’t tell them the reason but rather to be careful while in there. I then led the company into the cavern, avoiding the pitfall and the shrieker mushrooms. Hoping that I had some sort of magic within myself, I used a spell that created a spectral hand to unlocked the cage that the dog was in.
Turns out, I do have some mage blood in me. Go figure.
The dog then attacked the derro guard, distracting the guard long enough for me to stick an arrow in his head. The group of derro now alert to our presence, they begin attacking us. As we slayed more of them, an ettin lumbers in and starts making its way to us. Knowing that this creature could cause some problems if we don’t kill it fast enough, I focused all my attacks upon the monstrosity. After firing a good shot, I then hear that familiar voice in my ear say to me “Nice shot Elidure.” When I turn to look to see the origin of the voice, I see him. He then removed a dagger from my side before he disappeared.
The ettin then started climbing up the cavern wall to a new attack position. While I watch the creature move up, the ghost returned and charged at me with his two daggers. Out of fear, I held my hands up but the image was not there. I had just enough time after the image faded to dodge a swipe from the ettin.
After we slayed the ettin and everyone else, all of a sudden, the ghost reappeared and stabbed me with both of his daggers. He leaned over to me a whispered, “I’m coming after you.” All I could do was whisper back “You’re dead.”
I don’t remember much following that. Other than being stabbed and going into shock.
I came to much later with Amnon by my side, looking very worried. Both him and Xillow came up to me and asked what had happened. I simply replied that I did not know, for I truly did not know. Feeling very sore, I got up and our group started walking back to Lorthio’s camp. Everyone decided to go up to the Darklight district and run some errands. I stayed with Lorthio and bought some pain killer potions from him to ease the soreness of my body. I then also asked about what effects are gained from the strange mist in the tunnels. He replied that the mist have been known to drive people mad if around it for extended periods of time.
I wonder if that’s why I saw that ghost.
While I was pondering and writing about what I had seen and heard, Xillow and Lycyra came down and asked if they could borrow my map to clear out the rest of the tunnels for the bears. Instead of giving them the map, I chose to accompany them. A little while later, Amnon and Kallista then came to join us. Before we headed off, Lorthio asked if we could clear out the tunnel near his for any creatures that were dwelling there. We headed there and found quite a bit of webbing. Peering into a nearby cavern, we saw three spider-like creatures in there. Xillow stepped forth and tried to talk to them but in vain. The monstrous one stepped forward and we found that it had two heads. We managed to slay them all but I was quite injured from it. Before we decided to move on, I sat down to rest. The pain killer is still in effect but I feel exhausted.
Before I stop here, I just witnessed something quite impressive. Kallista learned that her daggers were embedded into the two-headed spider’s nervous system. She began trying to move it but it eventually started gaining the post-mortums. To remedy that, both Lycyra and Amnon sent what appeared to be lighting into the spider, and it became a ride for her.
I will stop here for now. I do not know what is happening here or what is in store for us. All I know is that I am tired of being in these tunnels.
